03 Mar Build A Thriving Union County
On March 15, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., Housing Advocates to Host a Housing Summit “Build a Thriving Union County.”
Union County residents will share their experience searching for an affordable place to call home during a gathering of community residents and advocates. Civic, faith-based, and non-profit leaders will engage in a conversion on building a thriving Union County. The event is part of the “Build a Thriving New Jersey” effort by the Housing and Community Development Network of NJ to recharge the state’s economy through investments into affordable homes.
New Jersey currently has an out of balance housing market with a scarce supply of affordable rentals and starter homes. In Union County, a family requires an annual income of $52,960 to afford a modest two- bedroom home – the median income is $40,685. “Build a Thriving New Jersey” calls on the next leaders of the state to invest $600 million into homes residents can afford.
